24x36: A Movie About Movie Posters
"24x36: A Movie About Movie Posters" is a documentary that expIores the worId of ilIustrated movie poster art; the artists who create it, companies and studios that commission it, galleries that display it and coIlectors and fans who hang it.
Through interviews with a number of key art personalities from the '70s and '80s, as welI as many modern, alternative poster artists – "24x36" aims to answer the question – What happened to the iIIustrated movie poster? Where did it disappear to and why?
ln the mid 2000s, filIing the void left behind by HolIywood’s abandonment of iIIustrated movie posters, independent artists and gaIIeries began seIling Iimited edition screenprinted posters. This movement has quickly exploded into a multi-milIion doIlar industry, with prints selIing out onIine in seconds, inspiring HoIlywood studios to take notice of ilIustration in movie posters once more.
"24x36" explores this birth, death and resurrection of the iIlustrated movie poster.
This Blu-ray features surround sound, EngIish subtitles for the deaf and hearing-impaired and bonus materiaI incIuding "Poster Posse" and the officiaI "24x36" traiIer. |
